ULTRASOUND INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBSTETRICAL PATIENTS

GESTATION

Less than 11 weeks	No preparation necessary.
11 to 24 weeks	Begin drinking 16 ounces of water 1 hour prior to your ultrasound appointment. Finish drinking 30 minutes prior to your appointment. DO NOT VOID.
25 weeks or more	No preparation necessary. With some patients the sonographer may be able to tell the sex of your baby. Please consider whether you want to know the sex (if possible) and advise the sonographer when you come in for your appointment.

You may bring someone with you for your ultrasound but we do ask you not to bring any children
under the age of five.
