Prenatal Classes

Pregnancy and childbirth is an exciting time for most parents. As with most exciting events, there may be some anxiety as you have new experiences in an unfamiliar environment. Preparation is often the key to a successful and pleasant birth experience. We highly recommend that expectant parents, especially first-time mothers and fathers, prepare for childbirth.  Sentara Princess Anne Hospital offers childbirth education classes, but they fill up fast, so we recommend that you sign up early.  For more information, please click this link.

Many patients often ask if they should create a birth plan prior to their time of delivery.  In order to assist you with this, we have created a document titled "The Birth Experience" for you to review that describes common delivery practices of our birthing center. 

Virginia Beach OB/GYN is offering pregnancy education classes monthly for our practice patients.  Pregnancy classes will consist of information on what to expect during your pregnancy, and are designed for patients who have not yet reached their 6th month of pregnancy.   Our third trimester classes will consist of information on what to expect in the later part of your pregnancy, including signs of labor, what to expect at the hospital, how to prepare for delivery, and information on the postpartum period.   

Our next first trimester prenatal information class will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012.  Our next third trimester class will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012.   Both classes are held at 5:00 pm at our First Colonial Road office, 1181 First Colonial Road, Ste 200, Virginia Beach, VA 23454.
