Permanent sterilization
We are pleased to now offer our patients an effective permanent tubal sterilization procedure that is performed in our office suite. If you don't want children in the future and you are tired of taking temporary birth control, the Essure Procedure was created for you.
The Essure procedure is different than the traditional method of a surgical tubal ligation. With Essure there is no cutting into the body. Instead, the doctor inserts spring-like coils, called micro-inserts, through the body's natural pathways and into your fallopian tubes. The procedure can be performed in our office without general anesthesia. Most patients report that the procedure is relatively painless, and can go back to the work the next day. After 3 months, your doctor will perform an Essure Confirmation Test, a special type of x-ray to confirm that your tubes are completely blocked and you can rely on the Essure micro-inserts for birth control.
Unlike birth control pills, patches, rings, and some forms of IUDs, Essure does not contain hormones to interfere with your natural menstrual cycle. Talk to your doctor today for more information about Essure. You may also visit the Essure website.
