Ultrasound

Fenney KwanSince the introduction of ultrasound in clinical medicine, it has rapidly become the first, best and safest imaging choice for a wide variety of Obstetric and Gynecologic conditions. Patients are familiar with ultrasound as a tool for expectant parents to get to know their little ones before the birth and find out the gender of the baby. But ultrasound is capable of so much more. Not only does ultrasound help diagnose and manage obstetrical conditions such as structural abnormalities, ectopic pregnancy, twin pregnancy, fetal growth delay and placental problems, it is also a highly useful tool in discerning benign from malignant gynecologic conditions, evaluating infertility, pelvic pain, and urogynecologic problems.  The cost is a fraction of MRI and CT Scans and involves no harmful radiation exposure.

At Virginia Beach Obstetrics and Gynecology, we are proud to have a comprehensive ultrasound program. Our skilled ultrasonographers are part of the clinical team, working in consultation with the doctors to ensure a quality diagnostic ultrasound evaluation of each patient. In fact Virginia Beach Obstetrics and Gynecology was the first practice in the city to be accredited by the American Institutes of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) after demonstrating achievement of nationally recognized standards and guidelines in the performance of diagnostic ultrasound. All three of our office locations offer ultrasound services allowing convenient, rapid evaluation and follow up for our patients through all the phases of her life.
