Shadesia Nicholson, FNP
Shadésia Nicholson, FNP-C, joined Virginia Beach OBGYN in May, 2026. She is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a strong clinical background in women’s health, reproductive health, preventive care, and primary care medicine. Born in The Bronx, New York, and raised primarily in the Hampton Roads area, she is a graduate of Nansemond River High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hampton University and later obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from South University.
Throughout her nursing and advanced practice career, Shadésia has served in a variety of healthcare settings including women’s health, occupational medicine, urgent care, home health, and community-based care. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, she worked as a Registered Nurse and Charge Nurse with organizations including Bon Secours, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, and Sentara Healthcare.
Shadésia has extensive experience providing comprehensive, patient-centered care with a focus on preventive health, gynecologic care, family planning, adolescent health, and patient education. She is experienced in contraceptive management, LARC procedures including Nexplanon and IUD insertion/removal, and evidence-based hormone management. She is passionate about empowering patients through education, culturally responsive care, and shared decision-making.
In addition to her clinical experience, Shadésia has served as a Clinical Instructor at Bryant & Stratton College, an Adjunct Professor at Thomas Nelson Community College, and a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.
She is an active member of professional organizations including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, and the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health.
Outside of work, Shadésia enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and creating meaningful memories with her children.
